Founded in 1912, HSGKC celebrates over 100 years of faithful service to the lost, abandoned, and broken pets of the Greater Kansas City area. Our mission is to save and improve the lives of dogs and cats throughout the Greater Kansas City community by providing affordable veterinary care and spay/neuter services, education and adoptions. In 1994 we became the first No-Kill Shelter in the KC metro area. Many of the pets in our shelter were originally at KCK Animal Services and were injured or sick and in need of life-saving veterinary care.
HSGKC receives no funding from any state, city, or federal government organizations or from any national animal welfare organizations. We provide much needed care and services for the animals in our community, and we depend entirely on the generous donations of animal-lovers like you!
HSGKC provides affordable spay/neuter and veterinary care services for the public. Proper veterinary care and education is essential to keeping pets healthy and happy, and affordable care helps people from having to give up their beloved pets or euthanize them during difficult financial times. Affordable spay/neutering saves lives by reducing pet overpopulation. Although we do not screen clients based on their financial abilities, our desire is to help those with limited finances care for their pets. Thanks to our generous donors we are able to help pets get the important veterinary care they need.
By providing education and affordable services, we're able to save and improve the lives of thousands of pets in the Greater KC community and prevent countless pets from being relinquished to shelters.
Ray of Hope is the life-saving partnership between HSGKC and the KCK Animal Services city shelter. The dogs and cats at the KCKAS shelter are under the veterinary care of our HSGKC clinic staff. Pets receive medical examinations, vaccinations, spay/neuter services, and other needed medical care and procedures. To help find homes for the pets available for adoption at the KCKAS shelter, our volunteers conduct weekend satellite adoption events at the PetSmart in Olathe.
Funding and donations to the Ray of Hope program have allowed thousands of dogs and cats at the city shelter to be given a second chance.
Help us reach other animal lovers like you by creating your free Pet Telethon fundraising web page! It's easy to set up and it allows you to collect online donations easily and securely. Last year, groups raised money through a variety of ways including auctions, person-to-person asking, email blasts, art sales, raffles, jeans days and more.
If your webpage raises $800 or more then you are invited to come on-air during the Pet Telethon and present your Jumbo Check in person! You must raise $800 by March 6 to confirm your on-air spot. If you'd like to present your Jumbo Check on-air, contact Suzanne at 913-596-1000 x 115 or send an email. Hurry-- space is limited!
Do you have a funny video of your pet that you'd love to share on The KC Pet Telethon? If so, we'd love to see it! The rules are simple:
We'll let you know shortly after the submission deadline if your video has been chosen to air during the KC Pet Telethon on March 10. For more info contact Suzanne at 913-596-1000 x. 115 or send an email.
Sponsors are needed to help raise $100,000 for Kansas City's homeless animals this year through the KC Pet Telethon. Sponsors can be individuals, organizations or businesses that simply want to be a part of the solution to help the animals. There are a variety of monetary sponsorship levels available. We also need in-kind donations to use as donor incentive prizes during the three-hour televised event. Prize items can range in value from as little as $20 to several thousands of dollars.
Please join our other sponsors and give your support! For more info contact Suzanne at 913-596-1000 x 115 or send an email.
